Thanks B.H., well i did sand it down so it had a good chance of sticking..My friend used sandable primer then i wet sanded it and he shot the color..I wanted to give it that floating bumper look to it i guess its custom not stock ..but to let you know something it needed to be rechromed anyway so if i didnt like it there wasnt a big lose anyways...i had to remove it to have it rechromed now the bolts are all loose now...

I think it's a nice touch. It definitely makes the bumper look thinner.

This actually might be an option for someone (maybe even on my Panther) where the (GP 2.001) "Bumper Impact Bar" has served its intended purpose, i.e., "bump impacted" something more than once. To make it look original one has to straighten the BIB and then rechrome. If you're on a tight budget (like 52Deluxe did with his grille), then just plastifill, primer, sand, etc and paint it to match the front lower fender. If one comes into $$$ later, one can then go the rechrome route, if desired.

i've thot about doing the same thing to a ruff set of rear tail lite assemblies that are in ruff condition should i ever need to use them. Gives the car a very subtle secular look. I'd never do it if the chrome was good tho.

'55,

I gave it an "I LIKE it!" And it is very nice. Overall, the subtle customizing you've done is all too rare at the custom and rodding shows. Like I may have mentioned before, the thing I noticed about the biggest show here in town this year was how everyone wanted the REDDEST car there. Man, it got tiresome. My proudest achievement was getting a shot of a nice '56 Clipper (don't have the film developed yet).

BTW, WHAT is the name of that color combination you used? It's got a quality that is almost ghost-like. Is it a special white? And what's the second color called?

Thanks Guy, I only did some light custom tricks to make it appear like an early 50's custom...Get ready for this the color's you see are 2 part epoxy primer..one is white the other is a tan it has a slight shine to it almost a satin look, i wanted to give it that ready for paint but dont have the money look that they used in the 50's i think i captured it I HOPE...

ive actually had a number of people complement me on that paint job, some got to see the grill upclose before and it was far beyond replating "ny salt." most people never know its not stock in anycase as it looks good "almost matches the roof perfectly." i also like how the bumper looks on 55packard's car, almost looked like it was supposed to be that way, least to me.

I have to agree with most everyone so far. I love the looks of the car and as far as kustomization goes, this is pretty mild. I like that. Hey I recognise its a personal thing so I can enjoy what others do! Seriously, I love what you have done and hope you enjoy your car for as long as it gives you pleasure. Painting the valance was the right touch....it really does balance out the car. Good luck.

Thanks Randall,I tried to give it that almost late 50's early 60's custom look not to radical but just enough to make it stand out...I think it came out just right...And yes the valance does look good that was my friends idea so he gets all of the credit...If it wasnt for him i might have overdonr the car he really knows what is period..The only thing thats not correct is the console but i needed somewhere for my gauges, i dint feel like taking the stock ones out....I still have the stock hood too, thats another hood i did that to so it can be put back to stock pretty easy..Thanks again for the kinds words....
