Turbo Loyd
So the 383 is a Chevy 350 with a 400 crankshaft. Is it a 4 bolt main 350 ?
2seater
Do you need to know anything? Even though this is a Buick site, the stroked 350 Chebbie is a good combination that does work well. We have one in my sons off road race car. Pretty good torque motor when stroked. Almost as good as a Buick
JACKO
yes its a chevy 350 one piece rear main seal.4 bolt mains with a 4.040" bore and a 3.75" stroke..its not really a 400 crank thats the old school way to do it i have a EAGLE 383 kit, which consits of a 4340 forged steel crank,SLP(je) 11.1:1 flat top pistons eagle 4340 forged H beam 6.00" rods and of coarce all the bearings, seals etc.. and the kits eleminate ALL the clearence problems..but you still have to machine a little on a 350 block..and yes i drove it tonight (for the first time) it is torkey as hell.. 2seater
Technically, you have a 384.5 cu/in. The typical 383 is a 350 block bored .030" over. More is better.
