Guest
84 cutlass supreme 307I have had a no start or start and stall problem for three months now. It happened when i was on the expressway in heavy stop and go traffic, as i was stopped the check engine light came on the idle dropped low to a rough idlei was able to two foot it home. When i got home to pull the codes i got code 54 m/c solenoid, i replaced the m/c solenoid (twice) but still got the same code. The car would now either not start or start and cut out after five seconds or so unless i keep my foot on the gas. I'v checked for vacuum leaks(16 lbs)when running, and have changed the following, fuel pump, fuel filter, spark plugs and wires, cap and rotor, igniton module, igniton coil, changed oil, had timing checked, checked for fuel and spark during no starts(present).I dont seem to know of any more ways or reasons to get up and going. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

decembro
You haven't said if you tried to adjust the mixture screws on this carb. Are there still plugs over the mixture screws? Usually with a code 54, if the mc solenoid is good, the carb needs adjusting.
