vanzcorp
I just bought a distributor recurve kit for my 86 cutlass, 305 chevy, and the new weights are smaller than the stock weights, is this normal? Also, the package that the kit came in says that it fits 74-79 GM HEI distributors, whats the difference between a 79 HEI and an 86 HEI?thanks, Ryan
InMyMerryOLDSMOBILE
It should work fine, you want to take it to a local dyno shop with a distributor tuning machine to get the curve right. Be sure to keep the factory springs & weights for the future.Neil

rocketraider
All advance in the 1986 HEI is computer controlled. It may not even have weights. If you got one of those Mr Gasket curve kits you've wasted your money; never seen one work well. Crane has a distributor curve kit that works. vanzcorp
it isn't computer controlled, it's got the advance weight mechanism.
