Jolly_John
I want to replace the front stabilzer bar bushings on our 1939 Buick. They are the same on both 40 and 60 series cars. These would be the bushings bolted to the frame crossmember that the bar passes through (NOT the round stabilizer link bushings out on the A-frames). I can't find a reproduction of these bushings anywhere. Has someone used or modified a different stabilizer bar bushing to solve this problem? Thanks, John in Wisconsin
Charles2
I think they are the same as on the 1940 Series 40 & 50. I looked pretty hard for these for my 1940 Special and finally gave up. If you find something, please let me know. The bushings in my car keep it from rattling but are on the loose side. I suspect that NOS would be pretty stiff by now. You can buy repros for the rear stabilizer bar but not the front. Why? Your guess is as good as mine. Metro and Steele, are you listening?
palbuick
HI John & ChuckI found the rubber bushings for my 40, I think I got them from Bob's Automobiliaabout 3 years ago. I think I used the 41-48 Bushings. Give me a couple days to check.JIm Schilf palbuick@aol.com
Charles2
Jim,I appreciate your trouble. I recall looking at the later bushings and wondering but other things were higher priority. I look forward to hearing from you.
