ARTICLES IN THE BUICK BUGLE

I'm not sure if I'm missing something but is there a place in the BUGLE where it states which cars are upcoming features in future magazines? The Lincoln Club does this so the members can send in articles and photos of their cars. I personally was VERY dissapointed with the current BUGLES coverage of the FABULOUS 40'S. There was an incredible line up of 1949 Buicks at the Buick Show in Pasadena,Calif this spring...none of which were featured in this magazine. Could this be because the owners weren't aware that the article was being published and couldn't submit photos? I realize there are space constraints due to publication costs however one page of nothing but cameo shots of 40's Buicks would have beenan wonderful addition to the featured articles. Do you folks agree?

The Bugle can only print what they receive. If you saw something that you thought should be in the Bugle, why didn't you take a picture and send it in?? If you read the editors column ,you will see that he practically begs people for articles. I for one am VERY PLEASED with the new editor, and think the quality of the magazine has improved trmendously. smile.gif" border="0smile.gif" border="0

BBURNSRE: Very interested in your reference to the '49's you saw in Pasadena, not having been to that show, which would be a long commute from Minnesota. What did you see? Any Roadmaster Sedanets?(Did I spell that right?) Any for sale? Do you have any pictures to post?

TO THE OLD GUY:Thanks for your input Joe.Actually two local members both owners of '49's have sent in pictures of their cars and the line up of '49's at Pasadena and none of their pictures were featured.

I know from experience that it is difficult to get pictures good enough to submit for the magazine. i sent my article to Chuck Koch 3 years ago ,and he sent it back with a note that the picture quality was poor. When we got the new editor, I sent the article in again with some new pictures and received the same answer. When I was in Buffalo for the national meet , Robert Snowden ( the new editor) looked me up ,and said that as I had tried twice ,he would see if he could get some quality pics. When you find this kind of dedication, you have to feel that you have the right people at the helm of your magazine. smile.gif" border="0

TO BUICK BUGLE@BAKER PRESS: thank you for responding to my posting however I feel one question remains unanswered. Will their be a list of featured years/models published in the BUGLE in advance so that we as members can submit photos and articles for the magazines? I own a restored '57 Roadmaster 75, 59 Electra 225 flattop and an original '61 Electra 225 conv and would be happy to participate if I knew when any of these cars were going to be featured? I would appreciate your comments....Thanks Bryan Burns

I think that any goo pictures and an accomanying article will be incluced in The Bugle. It may take a while to see it because of articles already scheduled. I do agree with the old guy. I like the way the magazine looks and it is very hard to please all the peopls all the time. The article on the BDE took at least three months to get in from the time it happened and that is a large gathering of Buicks as well.Remember time and Patience (along with very good pictures) will usually get you what you want

I've had a few troubles with trying to reply to this...lets try it again...
First...I WOULD LIKE MY CARD AND DECAL, TOO!
confused.gif" border="0
I joined the club about 1 and a half years ago. I moved and did not receive several magazines until I complained and a board member (Sorry I lost his name, but THANKS AGAIN!) got me all but one of them. Probably the one that had my name in it as a new member. I never received my BCA Card or decal and if new members get one, this new member, did not. frown.gif" border="0
Next, just a few possible articles...
How about a collection of "decade" issues. The first could cover the beginning developement of Buick Motor Corp and the first years to 1909. It could give technical and trivia information on each model. Then the next one would cover 1910-1919 and so on. You would have my attention until at least through the 60's! cool.gif" border="0
Another idea...
Minor technical and/or performance enhancing ideas (within show requirements) which members can share and learn from. wink.gif" border="0
Another radical idea...
More agressive tips, performance enhancing to rodding ideas. Not my cup of tea but interesting. shocked.gif" border="0
A less aggressive idea...
Detailed technical instructions on safe and proper ways to install different kinds of seatbelts in older cars which didn't come with them, Brake improvements which are acceptable and safer! Anything else along these lines. cool.gif" border="0
I hope you like some of these, I would like and use the information. I have a few more ideas but feel I'm taking too much time, SORRY! grin.gif" border="0
[ 09-24-2001: Message edited by: FFNitro ]

As editor of the Buick Bugle I only wish I had the luxury of being able to sit down a schedule out a years worth of Bugles... each featuring different years or decades. As it is my files (of feature photos) are so limited I go into most months not knowing what the next month will bring. I'm always trying to build up the files for a given year.It is getting better. If you have a Buick you wish to see in the Bugle, put together photos and a short story. There is no guarantee it will appear right away... but if the phots are good it will make it sooner or later.

How about the local clubs, "bellying-up to the bar", and helping out BCA with articles. I know there has been some sent in about local car events / shows.
How about some other general technical, trivia or phylisophical articles. I know there are a few Radical specificyear or model groups or clubs out there. How telling us all the really cool differences of your favorite Buicks! Why is your specific year, model so "Special"?!! cool.gif" border="0
How about putting together a Favorites group of specialists in different rebuilding, rechroming, detailing, body work, painters, suppliers, on and on... who give us, The BCA , real, significant discounts! rolleyes.gif" border="0
Something got me started again, Sorry! tongue.gif" border="0
[ 09-25-2001: Message edited by: FFNitro ]
