BuickNut
My dad has a '52 Super with a dynaflow automatic tranny. Was wondering what would be the best modern day tranny fluid to use in it ?
Thanks.
our51super
I have a 51 Super and I use Dextron III (not 100% sure of the spelling, I think it's Dextron). Haven't had any problems.

Guest 70 Electra
Don't know how far back it goes, but the "Type A" fluid GM used in the sixties was later replaced with "Dexron" (Not DexTron, as it is commonly called).
Dexron was then superceded with Dexron II, and later superceded again in the nineties with Dexron III. This is the "latest and greatest" GM fluid and would likely be the best choice for your car, since the earlier formulations are no longer available. (Seemed to work fine in my 60 Invicta!)
The so-called "Type F" fluid, that used to be used in Fords, is very different in terms of frictional characteristics and would be a poor choice.
[ 08-30-2001: Message edited by: 70 Electra ]
