Shelby
For as long as I have had my 89 The HVAC system had a mind of its own. Drives me nuts. I Discovered that the Vacuum Supply line had a small split in it, and had been leaking for quite some time. There was quite a bit of dust inside the line. This line is plastic, runs from under the master cylinder through the wiring conduit to the HVAC controller behind the glovebox. After 15 year and 135,000 of heat from being 4 inches from the exhaust mainifold it was brittle as spaghetti. Inside it was still pretty soft. Replace the hose/tubing to the firewall.AC work great now. Engine runs better.
Shelby
The vacuum leak made it so there was not enough vacuum to change the Vacuum selector switch on the Hvac controller. Some times the a/c would not come out of the vents. Then sometime it would get enough vacuum to move the Switch. A real pain
poncho
Man, I don't even have A/C! But that's 'cause I'm too po' to get it switched to R-14.

FlyByNite
Poncho, if you are in Northern Minn, I believe if you slip across the border, you might be able to get recharged with good old R12. I guess EDBSO will know for sure.
Guest EDBSO
Nope not available in Ontario the Environment Canada's Environmental Protection Branch killed it. Some vague regulations regarding recycled R12 but you never know just what garbage concoction you are purchasing.
