Nash Engine SN Identification

I just bought an oddball Nash Healey project and trying to figure out the engine situation. 

For background, the car looks like a 1951 Nash Healey but it was made to English specifications (RHD) and titled in 1953. 

My question has to do with the original engine which had a serial number of H63381 and the engine was replaced with engine SN A144453.

Any idea what the original engine was from? Year and model?

Any idea what the replacement engine came from? Does A mean Ambassador or date code or something?

The styling of my new car is closer to the Alvis Healey - but it has the Nash engine.
