What interior fabric was used on my 1969 Olds 98's seats?

I think I remember your car is a Holiday Coupe. It used "Flair" pattern body cloth with Madrid grain vinyl bolsters in Gold, Green, Black, Blue, or Sandalwood for its seats or could also have had all vinyl in black or white. "Flair" is a smooth finished double knit body cloth.

Trim code 23 is showing up as Blue in my books.

51 is the paint code for Trophy Blue.

G is the vinyl roof, convertible top, or painted roof color and it's throwing me because that code is usually numeric in 1969. The C&F album indicates 2 (black), 3 (blue) or 5 (parchment) vinyl was available with code 51. G shows up in the paint charts as Topaz Gold, which would be a little out of place with a blue lower body <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />.

If it's a Luxury or Town Sedan the cloth is different. LS uses Flair and "Eden" jacquard together, and TS uses "Empire" a ribbed double-knit with Madrid vinyl.

Sorry to have been so long but I could not lay hands on my 69 C&F book until tonight. It was not where it was supposed to be, and I still can't figure why it was in the Regency's trunk.

Boy- getting the cloth and having the seat done by the 21st is ambitious. Try SMS www.smsautofabrics.com . Sometimes they can work miracles. The upholsterer will probably be a different story if the ones in Colorado are anything like the ones here. To say that they take their time is putting it kindly.

Thanks, Glenn!

You are right as rain! It is a Holiday Coupe. Blue, with a light blue vinal top. The crown molding around the top was done in half light blue to match. The rest of the car is in that Trophy Blue.

The interior is all blue with the cloth seats that feel for all the world like satin, each panel divided by a stripe of raised pattern. It is really a very handsome look. The plastic is done it a light blue (like an electric blue) giving the car a frosty appearance. Top that off with the all chrome window control panels and you have a very elegant touch. There is very little wood graining, just a stripe around the door panels (about 1/3 ") and on the dash.

I probably missed a number on the plate. I'm still getting used to these darned bifocals!!! <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" />

Anyway, you are also right that I doubt my upholsterer can do the job that quickly but we will see. Since the car is all original, one minor split along the seam on the side panel won't detract too much. Besides, I show for fun not trophies. I just love my cars!!!

PS I did try to up load my Olds for the picture in my profile but it did not work. The JPG is 128KB and is probably too large. I will adjust it and try again...oh would it be wrong to use the OCA insignia? Just curious.

Thanks again...you are always so responsive and courteous.

I don't see a problem with using the OCA logo on your pictures. When I was a zone director we encouraged members to display the logo prominently at non-OCA events in an effort to raise interest and membership. I see your use of it here as the same thing, but you may want to contact OCA President Pat Yancey peyancey@aol.com to clarify as certain parties within OCA tried to take all the damn fun out of things a few years back.

Good idea. I will email him shortly.

I have been reading in the forum and in the JWO that there have been 'issues' between some members and/or officers. I don't know any one really since I am a new member but I am all to familiar of 'stupid games and politics' that occur in any group situation. It is a pitty but that is the nature of human beings when in a structured group. Anything else is a mob. Oops...I digress. <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" /> Anyway I will see what he says! Thanks.
