John, it sounds like you're referring to dum-dum, which to the best of my

knowledge, is still available at body-shop supply stores. I used it to seal the roof chrome on the 400.

Are you talking about the undercoating on the inside of the fenderwell and behind the headlight? I use the 14oz can of paintable underbody coating through an underbody spray gun as it giver the same texture as the original, was also used on some parts of the frame and in the trunk of my 54 Packard Clipper Special. Dumdum was used around the mounting screws for the trim for the windshield and around screws for the body moldings not on the spring clips on the body molding..
