30DodgePanel
Hoping you guys can help me better understand DeSoto and Fargo engine stampings. A few years back I bought a DeSoto Master Parts List book in order to compare to any Dodge Brothers truck similarities for 1928-32. At the beginning of the DeSoto MPB showing the model codes on the left it has the following Model Code K (6 cyl) CK (6 cyl) CF (8 cyl) and so on down the line from SA, SAX, SC, SCX, and SD. Question #1.) do all the DeSoto engines from this era have these prefixed letters stamped into the engine block before the number? The reason I ask: I see in the Fargo truck section it has model codes that read QC (4 cyl Packet) 1928-29 KC (6 cyl Packet) 1929-30 PT (6 cyl Clipper) 1928-30 K-1 (6c cyl Freighter) 1929-30 Question #2.) IF the prefixed letters listed above are for passenger car engine stampings then my understanding is that any Chrysler 6 cyl engine stamped PT175000-241280 would be out of a Clipper? Is that correct? Note: The engine range 175000-241280 was found in a Pacific Coast Red Book specifically for 1929 Fargo Clipper engines, which is similar to Branhams Auto Reference if anyone was curious why I used those numbers for my example... Thanks for the help Dave Edited February 1 by 30DodgePanel (see edit history)
