alsfarms
Ok, I thought I had left Corvettes and muscle cars in my younger lifetime, (now very involved with Brass, Antique and Classic automobiles). I still own one remnant of that time period, a 1957 Corvette. Then I had a chance to pickup an early, made in late 1956, 1957 283. I have most of what I need to build this engine but lack the heads. Do you have or can refer me to someone who can help me source a pair of early "J" "K" "L" 1957 head or maybe an "A" "B" or "C" 1957 Power Pac pair of heads. Thanks, Al
bwbugay
I have a intake manifold dated E-13-57 if that is any help.
alsfarms
Heads are available. Your casting date on the manifold E suggests a mid May date and would be towards the tail end of the 1957 production run.
stude24
I have one NOS 283 "B" head that was in a Studebaker dealer inventory. Studebaker used GM engines in 1965 and 1966 when production was moved to Canada. This is in the original GM box and has some light surface rust from storage. I gave it a coating of WD 40. Attached are some photos.
