1954 Buick Special 48D rear brakes

I just bought a ‘54 Special 48D project. It’s missing all of the rear brake components, drums and all. As per the shop manual that was included in the purchase, the rear brakes are 12” diameter and 1.75” wide for this model. I have the opportunity to purchase drums, shoes and hardware for the model 50/60 which are 12” X 2.25”. Is it possible to use this setup as a direct swap in place of the narrower OE setup while still using the original backing plates?

Thanks.

Extensive involved project to do a conversion….

Fifty times easier to simply replace the parts you need…..

I have the 100 % correct Front & Rear Brake Shoes, Front & Rear Wheel Cylinders, and Front & Rear Brake Hoses, as well as the Front Inner & Outer Front Wheel Bearings and Seals….. and a whooooooole lot more…..
