1940 Buick emergency brake cable detail

I'm in need to help identifying how the crimped sheath for the emergency brake cable is secured in the bracket attached to the torque tube.  The photo below shows the bracket on the torque tube and the part of the cable that threads through the bracket.  What secures the crimped end of the cable sheath in that bracket?

It should be a "open ended lock washer" (not sure what the official name is) that snaps in that groove. I think it should have a spring that goes around that barrel. Hard to get to, as I remember (and that was with a lift!)

 

DRY FIT everything before you assemble; I recall that the parking brake cable that I got from Bob's was a skosh bigger in diameter, made in " you know where."

 

I think I dumped my photos of the assembly that I put on my '40 Super sedan. If I get a chance tomorrow, I'll take a pic and attach.
