The Royal Automobile Club in November 1929 had a Trial Run from London to Glasgow to test the 1929 Franklin series 130 .this was the smallest series of Franklin on offer in that year. it was Trial No. 724. It was a test of endurance  403 1/2 miles covered using 1st gear only! average running speed was 11.4 mph. the engine was not stopped for the entire run that took 38 hours 21 1/2 minutes.  3 hours 3 minutes of that time was for idling during voluntary stops of the car. . The longest stop was 40 minutes.  No repairs nor adjustments were done during the trial. Total average running weight of the car with passengers was 4,505 lbs.

this comes from a sales flyer/poster issued by the London Franklin dealership Regent Motors Ltd. on New Bur.ington St. in London I have in my collection.

Yes, I have a wide variety of period material in my archives, mostly 1914-1942 .

Hope this makes you smile and understand what these cars in this era were subject to to prove how great they were.
