dg930
Hi all, Hopefully I'm not coming out with a dumb question for my first post. I'll be restoring a 1955 76C and want to start with getting the long lead time stuff moving. So chrome is first on the docket. So my question is: What is the original finish on the grille? A lot of the pictures I've looked at, my car, and my Super parts car, it doesn't look like shiny polished chrome. I've certainly seen guys on this forum rechrome that piece and it looks great but is it the original finish? If not, what are people doing to refinish this piece? Thanks much for your replies. old-tank
Shiny chrome on the front with argent paint on the backside and in the recesses.

Thanks, so when people refinish this piece they plate the whole thing then paint the recesses? I think I may have seen a picture of your grill. Is that what you did? Thanks! old-tank
The recesses are painted because it is hard to get chrome there without and electrode in each recess.
