Brian Boettger
I recently acquired two 1963 Cadillac 390 engines and transmissions. They are assembled as the came out of the cars, ie transmissions are bolted to the engines. Both engines are 36K (29941 & 127244) numbers identifying them as 60 or 62 series AC cars. The transmissions look identical however the casting identifications look very different. One has CFD and some symbols while the other has 8619102-1. The later engine number has the CFD. Are these both Jetaway Hydra-Matics? Thank you in advance for any help identifying these. Brian
rocketraider
Cadillac called it "Controlled Coupling HydraMatic", but yes, if the transmissions' ID plates show 63 or earlier year stamps, they're four speed HydraMatics aka Jetaway (Olds) or Super (Pontiac) HydraMatic. Bellhousing adapter leads me to believe they are.
Randy in ca
Might also be some numbers just in front of the shift linkage: -
