rgs455
I have a 455 getting oil in air cleaner housing. Any ideas?
Guest
First thing to check is the PCV and hoses. How many miles on this engine. If you have high mileage, the rings may be worn to the extent that the resultant blowby is overwhelming the PCV system.Hope that helps.
2seater
As well as excess blowby one other little realized item is that under full throttle, low vacuum conditions, the small vacuum formed at the hose that connects to the intake or air cleaner actually pulls oil vapors the other way, toward the air cleaner. If this is fouling the air filter, you might consider installing an independant filter element for the PCV system.
Guest
You might consider pulling the rocker covers off, the oil drain holes in the cylinder heads may be partially clogged, or clogged all together, meaning oil is pooling in the cylinder heads, and being sucked up through the breather tube. Otherwise I'd pull that tube off, and throw on and after market breather and let the fumes go. who wants hot oily air getting sucked in the carb anyway?
