Now here's a question, since car fans might want to

own a related antique refrigerator:

CAN ANTIQUE REFRIGERATORS BE REPAIRED AND RESTORED?

WHO DOES THAT WORK?

For example, are the refrigerant lines accessible if they leak?

Do people convert them to a more current refrigerant?

Is there a network of suppliers and people who repair and rebuild parts?

What I do know are a few bars and restaurants that have had larger vintage furniture, (old hutches, sideboards, etc.) retrofitted with insulated stainless steel compartments, and a refrigeration unit installed for keeping beer cold behind the bar.  They do look nice, and the retrofitter did a nice job of hiding the fact its now a giant refrigerator.   The only exterior changes are latches usually have to be installed in place of the original pull knobs on the doors.

Not an appliance, but I recall that my first M16A1 rifle in the Army in 1976 was made by GM Hydramatic Division.
