1942 "blackout" trim piece

I found an amazing piece of new old stock trim today, while unwrapping a stack of N.O.S. 1942 Buick fender moldings. Hidden in the middle of the stack was this piece, painted olive green and still wrapped with its original paper wrapper with the part number on it and the word "Painted". What an amazing discovery--This piece dates from the final month of automobile production in Jan./Feb. 1942 just before all production ceased for World War Two. I think it came from some parts I purchased from the estate of Paul Meyer, who was the owner of several 1942 Buicks.

It's the middle one in the group photo. Needs some careful cleaning due to 80 years of accumulated dirt and dust.

Just wanted to share this amazing find...
