Cadillac Nut
I have a set of 6 of these wire wheels. Could these be Studebaker? 20" in diameter, 4" width, 3.5" center cap opening. Thanks
DFeeney
Hello, I believe these wheels are 1928 Chrysler Products. They should have a 5 1/2"Bolt Circle. Please note on my attached picture the outside lock ring is not shown. The lock ring is worth as much as the rim. The Hub Cap was crimped on at the factory like a tin can lid and is impossible to remove with destruction . Snap on aluminum hub caps were later made aftermarket. Cadillac Nut
Hi, Thank you! Two don't have that locking ring and I was wondering about that, I have not seen a rim with a locking ring like that before. Much appreciated.
DFeeney
The 1928 20" rim is hard to find. In early 1929 Chrysler products went to 19" and there are more of these around. I recently bought 3 20 " rims on line for $150 ea with the lock rings and thought that was a good price. Your best chance to sell them would be in the Plymouth section as some owners want to change from wood wheels to wire wheels. This requires different brake drums which are getting harder to find. Attached is my 1928 Plymouth showing the rims in question. I also converted from wood wheels to wire's and think it made a big difference. Life is Good.
