Brendan M.
I'm trying to put a '39 Ford Woody back together and do not know how the piece of wood under the tailgate attaches to the car. I see that there are "tabs" that slide into the slots of the bottom of the D pillars but there are screw holes that I have no idea what they attach to. Does anyone have pics of the underside of the rear of a 38-39? Thanks.
NewOldWood
You should have two 5/16" holes on either end of that piece. Their is a steel angle, 1-1/2"x 4" or so that is attached to the quarter panel that those bolt through. If you can look close enough in this picture you might be able to see it. Brendan M.
Thank you! It took me forever to find it in the picture but I finally saw it. Those are missing from my car but I see the 3 screw holes that hold them in. Got any extras laying around :). Thanks again.
Brendan M.
Update: I decided to look thru some boxes of old parts that came with the car and found these. The car was taken apart at least 30 years ago. Amazing these survived. I wouldn’t have known what they are without your picture. Thanks David!
46 woodie
If you are missing any of the metal bracket's for your '39 there is a company called "Treehouse Woods" located in Taunton MA, that has most of them on reproduction.
