Removing the Upper Cushion of the Front Seat

Remove the bottom seat cushion and then you will need to remove the seat trim from the edges of the back cushion, which involved removing a lot of trim nails. After you have all of the nails out and the seat cover material peeled back, you will eventually get to the inner padding and spring assembly. I suspect it would be a lot easier to just remove the seat frame from the car so you can put it on a table or workbench to work on it.
