Jrbrks
Is it necessary to hold the metering valve open when flushing brake fluid/bleeding brakes on a 1968 Oldsmobile 442? It has the factory power front disc/rear drum brakes. The shop manual indicates a specific tool to hold the metering valve open. If holding the metering valve open is required, can someone share a practical way to do this? I am guessing the tool described in the shop manual is not available. Thanks for any guidance. joe_padavano
In 45 years of working on these cars, I've never done that and never had a problem bleeding brakes.
