alsfarms
Are you interested in the history of early American Automobile competition? If you are and would like a serious conversation piece to have on your desk, mantle or in your man cave, I am going to be reproducing this Vanderbilt Trophy Ornament. (Note, this piece can also be modified to mount directly to an early Locomobile radiator cap). The Holy Grail of early American Automobile racing, "The Vanderbilt Cup" held on Long Island New York, was won by Locomobile number 16 in 1908, which racer still exists and is on current display at the Henry Ford museum. The race in 1908 is how the Vanderbilt trophy ornament was made available originally, and was to commemorate the Locomobile victory over the best competitive automobiles the world could offer. For more information on what is going on with Locomobile automobiles, check below in the Locomobile forums. Here is a picture of the Vanderbilt Trophy that will be made available. Send me a PM if you have an interest in one of these terrific display pieces that give credence to the Locomobile marque. RonGardas
I've always read the forum but never made an account to respond. I now made an account and because I am new it doesn't let me private message you. So...How tall is it going to be? How much to buy one?
alsfarms
There will be two types of the Vanderbilt Trophy Cup, commemorating the Locomobile win in 1908, available with this recasting process. One will be a desk top version as per original. The desk top Vanderbilt Trophy is 4" tall. The second version, also per original, is made to attach to the top of the radiator cap. The radiator cap Vanderbilt Trophy Cup is 3" tall. Pricing is being calculated by the foundry. The costs should be available in a week or so.
