1916-1918 Studebaker Transaxle

Recommended Posts

I am in the process of replacing the ring and pinion on my '16 SD. I have previously had new second gears manufactured  and installed in this transmission about 10 years ago and have had very good results with the manufactured gear. Photo is attached showing the new gear installed and run 3or 4 thousand miles. If any one else has the problem of jumping out of second gear I have six available. Part #6112 intermediate countershaft gear (2nd gear) at $300 each.  Is any one interested in obtaining a new ring and pinion, at pre manufacturing cost?  My Series 16 four cylinder uses the 4.00 ratio (#19566), but I would like to have the new gears manufactured in the 3.70 ratio (#19565) as used on the 6 cylinder model.  Anyone interested one way or the other?  I am sending the gears out for quote.
