rob macwhirter
Hi Guys. This might sound like a stupid question but I am a Brit living in Portugal with a 47 flat head V8. I have an oil leak from where the dip stick attaches to the sump. What I want to know is are the nuts or whatever inside the sump that hold it on attached or captivated to the sump ? I don't want to undo the dip stick to fit a gasket and find everything has fallen off inside the sump . Thanks in advance for the info . Rob. plymouthcranbrook
Although I most likely don’t have an answer for you I would suggest you post make and model and also engine size. On the few flatheads I have worked on the dipstick holder is just pressed into the block and just needs to he wiggled out. I bet someone here can help with the proper information.
