rocketraider
The AAF Tank Museum focuses on tanks and other tracked military vehicles but has a collection of various military vehicles. A couple times a year they start 'em up, take them outside and let 'em rumble. Last time I was there they were working on a WW2 era tank spec Cadillac flathead V8 and HydraMatic transmission. rocketraider
Got word this week that the AAF Tank Museum is closing and the artifacts will be sold off. Apparently it hasn't been able to recover from the pandemic closures. What a sad loss for all who have an interest in military history.
levicarter66
Sure, here is an update on the AAF Tank Museum in Danville, VA: The AAF Tank Museum is a military museum located in Danville, Virginia. It is the largest tank museum in the United States, and it houses a collection of over 120 tanks and armored vehicles from around the world. The museum was founded in 1981 by William Gasser, a collector of military vehicles. The museum's collection includes tanks from the United States, Germany, Russia, Britain, and other countries. The tanks are displayed in chronological order, so visitors can see the evolution of tank warfare.
