motor swap

Recommended Posts

I have a 65 442 400 4-speed. I would like to put a 455 in. What kind of trouble will i run into. Are the cranks the same in a auto as 4-speed motor.

Thanks

correct me if I am wrong guys, but both are big blocks so the swap is very simple, just a few bolts <img src="/ubbthreads/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" />,stuff like engine mounts and transmission will bolt up with no problem. Now the crank part...I have no clue

Enging will bolt up...depends on year for pilot bushing in crank...I have used a mag drill and drilled for a new bushing before...can rent a mag drill for about $20.00 a day, and the same place should have the drill bit or ACE hardware will...just make sure your center on crank..and drill straightand not too deep...measure your 400 crank for diameter and depth..(with calipers..not a tape measure)Easy chore if you pull water pump and set engine on its nose and level it out.I drilled mine to fit a chevy pilot bushing.
