1957 retractable heater core

Hey all, I down here slummin from another forum and would like a couple of opinions from you guys that are familiar with the Fords.

As stated above its a 57 retractable, The manual makes it look pretty straight forward. I have found that if I need to do under dash work its best if I take the front seat out, so I will do that. (cant be to hard)

We bypassed the heater a couple of years ago and the owner wants it right (go figure).

In looking at the firewall it would be nice if I could work thru the fan shroud but probably not my luck.

So, I suspect that there could be a valve in there that could be the culprit as well.

I guess my question is am I going to run into any surprises here?

Maybe I decided to ask here because it just doesn't sound very fun.
