1972 Riviera - Carpet Advice

Hey everybody,

I hope you're all having a great day! I was looking at possibly replacing the carpet on my 1972 Buick Riviera. I am not 100% sure if it is the existing one is original but it does not fit that well, especially around the rear seats. This makes me think it was replaced at some point.

 

I have included some pictures of the interior. Do any of you have a particular place that you would recommend to get a replacement? Also some advice around the carpets. I want to keep the car as original looking as possible.

Regardless of whom you buy from, if it is molded carpet it will be made by ACC. Since everyone sells the same

carpet, might as well get it from a Buick specialist if possible to support them and encourage them to come out

with more repro items. OPGI has a full page diatribe in their catalog about their carpet being superior to everybody elses

and claim it is made by the original manufacturer for GM. They tell you this to justify their higher price, but they are selling

ACC carpets just like everyone else. Be aware that ACC carpet does not fit as well as the original nor does it wear as well

as the original carpet did, but that is all you can get so it's your only choice. If your carpet is not unraveling, just discolored,

you can dye it and it will look like new.

as you live in Blighty wouldn't it be better to give your carpet a really good clean if thats one of the issues apart from the fit ?

 

by the way my carpet is original and is a poor fit also so you would be taking a gamble ordering a new one and taking a chance of a better fit .

Hey guys, thanks so much for your advice. I will try and make the existing carpet fit better in that case. There is nothing particularly wrong with it other than the fit and cuts in certain places.
