Fleek
A 42 is a very rare truck It seems a shame to modify it. .like most people on this forum I would try to preserve it as original if at all possible. Is there a problem with the original engine?
daledon
Hi, When I bought this truck we couldn't get the hood open. So I took the guys work that the motor was complete. After getting it home and the hood open, I got a big surprise. Someone had put an old 216 Gm Motor in it. Now my health is not good, so I'm going to sell it. Is the 42 that rare? I only bought it because I like stuff that nobody else around here has.
Fleek
Any vehicle made in 1942 is rare because the production run was very short because of the war. Auto production did not start back until the 1946 models. So there are very few around but I do not know that translates in more value. This may be part of the reason for the 216 engine as most people had to do with what they could during that time to keep a vehicle running. because there were no new cars and very little parts .If it has been in the truck a long while, it was probably the best the owner could do to keep it on the road.
