Marko808
Hello everyone I have a 1953 Chrysler New Yorker deluxe that I recently converted over to 12v. The car was originally 6v Positive grounded and I didn't have any trouble running all my original switches as long as I reduced it down to 6v. I'm having trouble with the wiper motor. Is this because it was meant for positive ground?
hchris
The motor as such doesn't care about polarity, if you've applied 12v to the 6v motor then it probably won't be happy.
28 Chrysler
Dumb question, why would you change over to 12V then reduce your voltage back down to 6V ? The switches in a six volt system were designed to handle a greater current load than a similar twelve volt circuit.
Marko808
I'm not worried about the switches 28 Chrysler, that wasn't my question. Only thing running on 6V is gas gauge, power to the wiper motor and a couple of dash lights. I just cant get the wiper motor to work now. It worked before I did the 12V conversion.
