John Lau
Hello! We have a 1956 Montclair that we are restoring. We have pulled it apart (the car is ALL original-including some interesting souvenirs that have been hidden for over 60 years) and we are seeing things that I haven't seen before. The carpet was NAILED down, and nails were used throughout the car. Anyway, the carpet is wasted and needs replacing. Here's the thing: the carpet has a foot pad (as usual) on the driver's side. But it has a really cool Mercury logo on it. All of the s that I have seen have only the generic square pads-with no logo. Does anybody know if the original-style is available anywhere? Thanks! John PS-Attached for your amusement is a photo of a "steamy" paperback novel from 1958. The author, Orrie Hitt, was apparently a well-known writer of many of these-type books. I wonder who hid it under the seat all of those years ago; the husband or the wife?
