Bluejeepnut
I have had to rework the ignition system on my 1924 Maxwell. Is the spark retarded when the control is all the way up (to the left) on the quadrant? This would pull the distributor all the way in toward the engine block. Thank you. JFranklin
You can check and be sure by taking off the dist. cap and seeing which way the points and cam line up with the lever up and then down. When the points open sooner in relation to the direction of the cam the spark is considered advanced. Edited July 22, 2018 by JFranklin revised wrong (backward) advice. donk
Take your dist. cap off and move the lever , when it moves the points the same direction as the rotor when you turn over the eng. that is retard for when you start your car. if you moving the points against rotation of the rotor thats advance. You can use this on all manual timing advance levers
