leather seats

My leather seats have had it. Without replacing them, are there any sugestions on patching up rips, and covering leather so thin that it is soon to be ripped? The vehicle is a 1990 Riviera with over 144K miles.

Get a old bed sheet and some velcrow and sew the velcrow to the place you want and place on seats or go to a junk yard and get some seats there that will match up with what you have AL STORRS

Without replacing them, protecting them would be the next best option. There are some vinyl mending/repairing kits or similar that some of the auto supply people might have and might also be at some of the full line drug store chain stores. Any existing rips and tears might be temporarily filled in or reinforced with that stuff, but consider it a shorter term fix.

Unless you are hooked on the leather, you might find a trim shop that can insert the affected panels with a similar grain/color vinyl instead of the more expensive leather. This would probably be the best long term fix, but you also might need to do the entire interior so things will once again match. Or you could buck up and get new leather installed in the wear/aged areas as that's typically the only way the ultimate value of the car will be all it can be.
