Spinneyhill Posted January 8, 2018 Posted January 8, 2018 1935 Dictator rear wheel bearing drive axle end float We are having a problem setting the drive axle end float on my friend's car. The Shop Manual says the thickness of shims on each side should be within 0.005". But with the shims about 0.004" different, we get 0.013" end float on the left and zero on the right. Shims have been added to both sides to bring the end float to the correct amount, but this was the result. I am thinking this is a wheel bearing or axle problem rather than something to do with the thrust block in the differential. Any body have any experience of this? i.e. where do we look for the problem?
