Guest Posted August 30, 2002 Share Posted August 30, 2002 I have a 71 442 Convertible. The front bumper has the square turn signal lenses. Shouldn't this year have the round lenses? 66400 Posted September 5, 2002 Share Posted September 5, 2002 70 and 71-72 bumpers are quite different where the grilles match up. The '70 bumper is taller due to the short grill design. In '71-'72 the car has taller grilles which makes the bumper shorter. The only contour the same for both 70 and 71-72 front bumpers would be where it fits to the front fenders. Henry. Hmm. 66400, I take it that I will not have an easy time just swapping out the 70 bumper for the correct 71? Guest Dave Wyatt Posted September 5, 2002 Share Posted September 5, 2002 OK, after checking some pics and comparing, I see there are some cosmetic differences in the way they are stamped other than the parking lights. However from close examination the dip for the grills appears to be the same and they should interchange fairly easy. There might be some interference between the tongue on the hood and the bumper. Then you sell the 70 bumper (which I assure you won't be hard) and you still come out even or ahead.
