Multiplex separates and mixes the sound to produce a more vibrant sound, whether you have speakers Left to Right or Front to Rear .... Buick must have felt that it was worth putting it in as an upgrade

to the Mono system that the exact same sound comes out of both speakers again L-R or F-R , go to U Tube for explanations which are rather lengthy.  Paul
