ken1007
What is the correct hood lace; there are two types? Either one would be 3/4 inch wide but which type, flat or channel would be more representative of original? I've seen it both ways. Flat hood lace thickness of 1/8 to 1/4 inch; the other is an oval "channel" hood lace with thickness of 3/16 to 5/16 inch, each with various widths. It would appear the 3/6 inch channel hood lace would raise the hood too high above the cowl but mybe it will squash down in time. Gary_Ash
Restoration Specialties offers hood lace in various widths and thickness. I'm guessing that flat 1/16 or 1/8 is the right thickness, perhaps 3/4 or 1 inch wide. The 1931 grille shell I have been working with had "fingers" that stuck up to allow the lacing to weave in and out. I think they were pinched down at the factory to hold the lacing in place.
