TG57Roadmaster
A friend in Norway needs to know what engine this is, which is now in a 1928-30 International truck. Any ideas? Thanks, TG Edited October 1, 2016 by TG57Roadmaster (see edit history)
nzcarnerd
A search for some identification numbers would help. Maybe there is a casting date somewhere? or an engine number. If it is a truck maybe something proprietary like Buda?? Often proprietary makers put the info on a brass plate which was riveted to the engine block. What make are the electrical accessories; distributor and starter etc? One thing I see is that the distributor is mounted on the head, much like the first Chrysler sixes. nzcarnerd
Might be a Dodge. Do some research. I see from this article that the early ones had the distributor mounted down on the auxiliary shaft but the later Fast Four had it up top - http://www.enginebuildermag.com/2014/03/two-kind-dodge-bros-celebrate-100-years/
TG57Roadmaster
It sure looks like that "Fast Four" Dodge. I'll have them find a Motor Number on it. Thanks for such quick results! TG
nzcarnerd
The engine number might be on that flat area seen above the starter. According to The Standard Catalog the number might begin with an A and have seven digits beginning 10xxxxx.
