Thom Thumb
My '49 Coronet is equipped with turn signals, which work well. However, the dashboard indicator light doesn't work. The shop manual calls out the same bulb as used in the high beam indicator, and the owners manual says the turn signal indicator light is the left light of a pair in the speedometer face. The high beam indicator bulb is easily replaced. The turn signal indicator, not so much. The socket feels small compared to the hi-beam bulb socket, and it will absolutely not budge. Neither the shop manual, nor the owners manual cover replacing the bulb. What am I missing? I'm hearing-impaired, and the clicking flasher is not enough of a cue to remind me the turn signals are on. If you see an old guy in an old Coronet driving along with the turn signal on for blocks, that'll be me. Can anyone help?
JACK M
On my 48 dash the sockets for the hi beams and the turn signals are the same and are in the same position only on opposite corners. Should snap right out.
Thom Thumb
Thanks Jack. I'll look again. What you said is what I expected to find, but maybe I'm feeling the wrong socket. Might try to take a picture with a mirror.
