Need some help please!

I have 52 Chevy with original Stovebolt engine. Prior to getting my hands on it, it was converted to 12v and has a 4 year old remanufactured Carter carburetor. My problem is that it runs but when I hit the gas it hesitates, basically sputtering to where I need to play with the gas pedal for it to turtle along. At times there is little gas leaking from the carb but its sometimes. It is automatic.

Any help is greatly appreciated

So it has an Automatic Transmission ?

sounds like you need to rebuild the carb, at least take it apart and clean the jets and nozzles, and new gaskets. then reinstall and tune it.

if you slowly accelerate does it sputter like this or only on hard acceleration ??
