bikemikey
I want to clean my TB on my 89. I was wondering if I can manually operated the throttle from under the hood, or do I need to get someone to turn the key on , engine off and operate the throttle from inside the car. I understand on some later model cars you have to do this or you will mess up the computer.Mike
2seater
The throttle is purely mechanical so there is no need to operate it from anywhere but under the hood by hand. That said, to access the actual throttle assembly, you will need to remove the MAF housing assembly. Also a good time to clean the IAC and passageways. Guest Rp1967
1989 is about 10 years before the first electronically actuated throttle blades.
