Less than 1,000 miles on rebuild of original transmission.  Problem was not the tranny, but the still attached Vacamatic control system.  Tranny downshifts unpredictably, no matter the RPMs, but is otherwise in excellent condition.  I had a new one rebuilt and installed, which operates as a standard manual three-speed, using the clutch.  It works fine. Tranny is crated for shipment.  Priced at $1,000, which is my cost for the rebuild.
