Does185
1989 16v with 44,000 miles and not driven much over last 8-10 years. Car is fairly new to me and I'm trying to rejuvenate it and drive it more. From forum suggestions have replaced original parts like timing belt, valve cover gasket, fuel lines, fuel pump, brake lines, accumulator, wires, plugs, cap, rotor. In good shape now except RPM wanders and dips down to near stall, then pops back up to normal, repeats. Rarely actually stalls but when a dip occurs while accelerating from a light I get a shudder/hesitation. Often happens between 1st and 2nd gear and slows me to the point of being worried about stalling in middle of intersection or being rear ended by unobservant tail gater.Any thoughts on a wandering idle like this? Can this be adjusted? Other info that may or may not be related: the check engine light is on. But it just came on recently, have had idle issue long before this. Coolant temperature gage seems unresponsive, barely gets above C even with considerable driving.Thx!
Digger914
Time to read your engine code and before you go chasing after the odd stuff, try giving your throttle body a good cleaning.
