speedometer cable

is there anything special one should know about replacing a speedometer cable? I put a new cable on just screwed the ends on, speedometer still does not work.post-33736-143143092532_thumb.jpg

The square end of the inner cable must go into the drive and sometimes it takes a bit of fiddling around before it lines up. But, if you got the cable on and tightened up the ends must be in.

Other than that there is nothing. You could take the top end off the speedo and watch it as you drive. If it turns you know the drive is working and the problem must be the speedo. If not it must be the drive end at the transmission.

You do have the drive gear in the transmission? They can be easily replaced if necessary.
