AutoLite IAT1035 Distributor Info Needed

Does anyone have any information on an AutoLite IAT1035 distributor? I am trying to find out what it's original application was. It came in my 1930 Chrysler 77 when I bought it, but is definately not original. The original would have been a Delco 659B or 659E. Is this an appropriate workable replacement? Can I use it until I obtain an original? What distributor cap and rotor would it use? Where would I get them? I've been in touch with a couple of the distributor places which deal with antique/vintage AutoLite, they did not have a listing for this one. Any information is appreciated. Here are the only markings on the distributor:

There is a larger view from the top at:
http://www.1930Chrysler77.com/Pics/Distributor2.jpg
Thanks,
Rich
http://www.1930Chrysler77.com
Member AACA, WPCC

I have not been on the forum in a bit, so I did not see your post. I have extensive Autolite info from about 1930 through 1955 and cannot find any distributor heads with the number you post. I don't doubt that the number is what it is, since I can see it. I wonder if it isn't a detailed part number rather than the assembly. I went to your other photo and played detective. The photo of the point set seems to match only one point set in my Sandard/Blue Streak photo book: AL 4556XP; which translates to late thirties Chrysler. Points: AL4556XP; Condenser: AL118X; Rotor: AL98; Cap: AL96. I would take the distributor to your local auto parts store (a good one, not Autozone) and ask for those numbers and try them on the head. Good luck.

Thanks!
I just went to our local parts store (non-chain type.) You were right on the money with one exception. The condenser; the AL118X has copper strap you cut to length, rather than the wire like mine, I believe the only difference is the letter at the end of the AL118 for the part number. I will know for certain tomorrow, he didn't have the cap or rotor in stock, the condenser and points he had. They will be there by 8:30AM tomorrow. Everytime I think I can't get more excited I do. Today I was lucky and had one of the older gentlemen wait on me, I took the distributor in with me. He didn't even have to pull things up in the book or have the number, he just went and pulled parts off the shelf. Last time I went in the younger guy (my age, which isn't young anymore I suppose) was there and he had tried to cross reference the numbers for me. Goes to show you that books are no substitute for experience.
I really appreciate all the help the AACA and DF'ers provide.
Oldford, if ever you are in the Melbourne Florida area let me know, I'm buying!
Rich

Following up on this, the good news is they condenser and points are proper. The bad news is the cap and rotor are not.
The specified cap has a much larger 'key' in it than my distributor has a slot for it. My slot is about 1/4", the key in the cap is about 1". The rotor is longer, and shaped dramatically different than the one for mine. With all of this in mind, the local shop is still working on finding the right cap. Since they don't show pictures of the bottom of the caps he ordered about 6 different caps hoping one may fit, same with rotors that looked similar. At least it has me moving in a positive direction. I will post the results of the next round either this afternoon or in the morning when after he receives the next batch of parts...
Rich

The distributor saga continues...
The local store ordered every cap that might remotely fit the distributor. Unfortunately, none of them fit. In all cases it was the little 'key' slot in the distributor that did not match up with the key in the cap. Also there were concerns over the height of the caps, as to whether the rotor would clear or work properly.
At this point it looks like the distributor is pretty useless. I have been through several companies that deal with antique auto distributors, none have had any luck.
I am still hopeful maybe someone here will know the answer...
Rich
