Guest Freddy boy
Could anyone tell me which is the correct speedometer to put in a 1921 Touring Car? I have a Johns-Manville Model 115H and also a Dodge Brothers North East Electric Barrel Speedometer (Type 3850) and don't know which one is the most authentic for my car. Also... any idea what kind of a cable I need to use or where to get one?
Machinist_Bill
I need your car number to determine the correct speedo.
Bob Scafani
1921 use the Johns Manville unless the transmission has been changed. the idler gear cover is flat on the earlier transmissions and have a bump on the later transmissions that used the North east speedo. one turned clockwise and one turned counter clockwise. Guest Freddy boy
I believe my car # is 538105 (stamped on the firewall) and the engine # 84120. The Johns Manville speedometer that I have has a square cable mechanism which looks like it doesn't work with the connection which hooks into the transmission (see picture below). Guest Freddy boy
Thanks for your help. Judging by your description and the transmission connection, I'm thinking that I need the North East Speedo. Can you tell by the picture I've attached?
